The Hartnell Community said to be among the oldest instructive establishments in California. Founded in 1920, it was under the name Salinas Junior College. It was then later renamed in 1948 into what it current known as. The school has a close proximity to Monterey Coast, and is said to have a very breathtaking scenery. The institute, which is found in Monterey County, is said to be a mere 20 minutes, by motor vehicle, from the said place. To properly manage this educational organization, trustees take on the responsibility of making sure the proper operation of the establishment is implemented. Among such individuals includes the fascinating Candi Depauw Hartnell College Trustee.
The institution primarily services the Salinas Valley residents. Salinas Valley is a very fertile agricultural space which encompasses an area of about 1,000 square miles. The students that enroll here come from a wide range of areas which include Soledad, San Ardo, San Lucas, Moss Landing, King City, Lockwood, Jolon, Gonzales, Greenfield, Salinas, Chualar, Bradley and Castroville, among others. Students from Peninsula residential areas also select the school for their tertiary education.
The strength of the school depends on the vast academic prospects it provides, technical offerings, nursing programs, and its flourishing sports division. On average, the school services nearly 10,000 students, which come from a wide array of ethnicities. These ethnicities include Native Americans, Blacks, Filipinos, Asians, Whites and Hispanics, among others. Among which, Hispanics are considered the majority in the student population.
The institution offers several different programs for its constituents. These majors include astronomy, foreign languages, Early Childhood Education, Animal Health Technology, agriculture, health and nursing, and math and science.
The school also offers additional programs besides what was mentioned in the previous segment. Such courses include Auto Collision repair, Health Education, Business Administration, Administration of Justice, Engineering, Computer technology, Welding, History, Drafting, Music and English.
The school system currently has four campuses. These campuses include South Salinas, East Salinas, Natividad Medical Center and King City, wherein the main campus is located in South Salinas. The main campus includes the Admissions & Records office, Disabled Students Services Center, Office, Financial Aid Student Union, a vast newly constructed parking space and a cafeteria within its vicinity.
The present president of The trustees of Hartnell Community College is Candi Depauw. Depauw came into this world and grew in the Houston, Texas. She attended higher education at the Texas A & M University and the University of Wisconsin, in which she acquired a bachelor of science degree in Political and Social Science. Later on, she pursued and obtained Masters of science in Agriculture, specializing in Horticulture. Prior to her significant role as trustee president, she did the was a respected garden greenhouse manager and a successful owner of her own Landscape Contracting business.
